Overview
The Land of Giants
Deosai National Park spans 3,280 square kilometers of pristine alpine plateau at 4,272 meters—the world's second-highest plateau and Pakistan's most dramatic high-altitude destination. Known locally as "Deosai" (abode of gods), the plateau remains snow-free only June through September, making it a summer-exclusive destination.
The plateau is home to the largest population of Himalayan brown bears in Asia (100+ individuals), wildflower meadows that carpet the landscape in July-August, and some of Pakistan's clearest skies. From Deosai, visitors see Nanga Parbat (8,126m), Hispar Peak, Rakaposhi, and dozens of other Karakoram summits in unobstructed panorama—a sight rivaled nowhere else in the region.
